The Brandberg Mountains, a plutonic body formed over 130 million years ago, hide the rare geodes where the quartz crystals grew under exceptional hydrothermal conditions. The result is an amethyst of rare beauty, which combines intense violet shades with clear or smoky quartz areas, all in a single crystal.

Crystallizing in a trigonal system, this specimen of Sio₂ (silicon dioxide) is noted for its excellent transparency and its natural, hexagonal forms. Some pieces include "ghosts" - internal contours that reflect ancient growth stages - or show mobile bubbles of hydrothermal fluid, hematite or goethit, all captured inside the crystal millions of years ago.
