Această piesă de selenit cu cinabar din Mexic este un specimen mineralogic format prin suprapunerea naturală a două procese geologice distincte, care au dus la apariția unei asocieri rare și bine definite. Cristalele de selenit s-au format inițial în medii evaporitice, iar ulterior au fost parțial impregnate de fluide hidrotermale, favorizând depunerea cinabarului direct pe și în masa cristalelor.
Rezultatul este o asociere mineralogică coerentă, în care matricea alb-translucidă de selenit este traversată sau punctată de incluziuni roșii de cinabar, fără delimitări artificiale. Cele două minerale sunt intim legate structural și vizual, cinabarul accentuând forma și transparența selenitului, iar selenitul punând în evidență culoarea intensă a cinabarului.
