Garnet
Minerals, Semi-precious stone
Garnet is a group of silicate minerals with a cubic crystal structure, known for its color variety and its use both in jewelry and in industrial applications. Although it is frequently associated with a deep red shade, garnet can also appear in green, orange, yellow, brown, or even colorless, depending on its chemical composition. It forms mainly in metamorphic rocks, but can also appear in igneous rocks or in alluvial deposits. The crystals are usually well developed, with characteristic dodecahedral or trapezohedral shapes.
Garnet does not represent a single mineral, but a group that includes species such as almandine, pyrope, spessartine, grossular, and andradite, each having specific variations in composition and color. It is valued for its durability, glassy luster, and clarity, being used both in jewelry pieces and as an industrial abrasive.
