Starburst Jasper is a rare variety of jasper with spectacular radial inclusions that resemble tiny starbursts or fire flowers embedded in the rock.

These forms occur naturally in the process of hydrothermal formation, when minerals are deposited in concentric or radial layers inside the cavities of the parent rock. Compositionally, jasper is a microcrystalline form of quartz (silica - SiO₂), belonging to the chalcedony family, with a hardness of 6.5-7 on the Mohs scale.

Its earthy color, with shades of red, orange, brown and cream, is due to the presence of iron oxides and other natural impurities.

Starburst jasper is rarely encountered and often originates from sedimentary or volcanic regions where the pressure and temperature conditions allowed these unique structures to form.
