Golden Obsidian, internationally known as Gold Sheen Obsidian, is a natural volcanic rock Black in color, characterized by golden reflections that become visible when the surface is moved in light. Obsidian is formed by the rapid cooling of silica-rich lava, before the development of a crystalline structure. The golden effect is produced by microscopic structures and inclusions in the mass of volcanic glass. Mexico is one of the best known provenances for this variety of obsidian.
