Chalcedony with chromium, also known internationally as Chrome Chalcedony or Mtorolite, is a rare natural stone, with shades of intense green to emerald green. It is a variety of chalcedony, from the quartz family, and its natural green color is determined by the presence of chromium. It is thus distinguished from chrysoprase, whose green color is mainly associated with nickel.
Druzy specimens come from Zimbabwe, the best known source for this stone. Chalcedony with chrome is found especially in the area Mutorashanga, along the Great, and the trade name Mtorolite is related to this region. The material from Zimbabwe is prized for its deep green color and translucent appearance of quality specimens.
In crystal therapy, chromium chalcedony is associated with emotional balance, inner peace, acceptance and renewal. It is associated with heart chakra (4) and with the element Earth. In spiritual traditions, it is symbolically used for cultivating calm, emotional openness, and maintaining inner stability during periods of change.
