Anthophyllite is a rare natural stone from the amphibole group, found in shades of white, grey-green, green, and brown. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic system and has an appearance that can range from crystals with a glassy or pearly luster to mineral aggregates. Anthophyllite was first described in Norway, in the Kongsberg area, and occurrences of the mineral are known in several geological regions of the world.
From a mineralogical point of view, anthophyllite is a magnesium-rich silicate from the amphibole group and forms especially in metamorphic contexts. The composition and the presence of iron can influence the color and appearance of natural specimens.
