Blue Kyanite is a mineral valued for its elongated, lamellar, and strongly striated crystals, which can develop individually or in clusters. The shades range from light blue and grayish-blue to intense blue, sometimes with whitish or translucent areas.
From a mineralogical point of view, kyanite is an aluminum silicate (Al₂SiO₅), formed mainly in metamorphic rocks under high-pressure conditions. One of its particularities is its hardness varies depending on the crystal direction, determined by its strongly anisotropic structure.
In raw form, kyanite very well preserves its natural crystal structure, with overlapping blades, longitudinal striations, irregular terminations, and areas where crystals intersect or separate.
