The amazonite is a green-blue variety of the microclin feldspar, a mineral from the silica group, with the Kalsi₃o₈ chemical formula. Its distinctive color, between light green and intense turquoise, is attributed to the presence of lead and water in the structure. It has hardness 6–6.5 on the Mohs scale and a glassy gloss, with perfect cleavage. It is found in magmatic and pegmatite rocks, especially in Russia, Madagascar, Brazil and the USA.
