Amethyst is the violet variety of quartz,with a composition of silicon dioxide (SiO₂) and a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale. The characteristic violet color is associated with traces of iron in the crystal structure and natural irradiation processes that occurred during the mineral's formation.

The geode was formed in a natural rock cavity, where silicon-rich solutions allowed the gradual development of amethyst crystals inward. The shape of the geode, the size of the crystals, the zoning and the intensity of the color are the result of this natural geological process.
