About Azurite-Malachite

Azurite-Malachite is a spectacular natural mineral association, formed by the simultaneous occurrence of two copper minerals: azurite, recognized for its intense blue shades, and malachite, characterized by its green tones.

The combination of the two minerals creates remarkable chromatic contrasts, from azure blue and navy to intense green. The distribution of colors, lines, spots, and inclusions differs from one formation to another and represents natural characteristics of the mineral.

Azurite has the chemical formula Cu₃(CO₃)₂(OH)₂, while malachite has Cu₂CO₃(OH)₂. Both are secondary copper minerals and can form in the oxidation zones of copper deposits.

Obelisk Shape

The stone was polished into the shape of an obelisk with a tip, keeping the natural patterns and contrasts between azurite and malachite visible. The vertical shape highlights the stone's color zoning very well and allows it to be displayed as a decorative mineral piece.
