Carnelian is a variety of chalcedony, part of the quartz family, with a microcrystalline structure. Its characteristic shades range from orange and brick red to reddish-brown tones, the color being mainly associated with the presence of iron compounds in the mineral's structure.

What makes this piece special are the druzy cavities preserved inside the mineral. These areas are covered with numerous very small quartz crystals, formed in the spaces left free in the rock. When viewed in the light, the microcrystals create a fine and sparkling surface, contrasting with the polished appearance of the carnelian.

Specimens from Madagascar They are appreciated for the variety of natural patterns, the alternation of translucent and opaque areas, and the combinations of orange, reddish, white, and darker tones. Bands, small cavities, differences in transparency, and visible inclusions are not imperfections, but part of the mineral's natural structure.

The egg shape allows for a very beautiful observation of these variations: the polished surface highlights the depth of the carnelian's color, while the druzy area preserves part of the natural crystalline architecture of the piece.
