This imposing piece, naturally formed, represents a spectacular encounter between two secondary minerals from the oxidation zone of copper deposits: malachite and chrysocollaThe dominant botryoidal structure – characterized by globular aggregates reminiscent of a mass of solidified drops – is a rare expression of slow formation under specific hydro-mineral conditions, often in cavities where copper-rich solutions gradually precipitated on the walls of geological voids.

Malachite, a copper carbonate (Cu₂CO₃(OH)₂), stands out for its concentric green shades, sometimes with fine bands or a velvety texture in the case of crystallization in fibrous aggregates. In this piece, it serves as the base matrix, forming smooth, compact surfaces, but also slightly undulating reliefs.

Chrysocolla, a hydrated copper silicate with an amorphous structure (Cu₂-xAlx(H₂-xSi₂O₅)(OH)₄·nH₂O), deposits in interstices or forms coating layers in bluish-green shades, delicately complementing the botryoidal structure of malachite. The presence of chrysocolla in this context indicates a chemical evolution of the geological environment, with pH variations and changes in the composition of mineral solutions.

This mineralogical association is typical of regions rich in oxidized copper deposits, such as those in Congo (Katanga), Peru, Arizona, or Israel, yet the shades, morphology, and mode of aggregation vary significantly depending on geographical origin.
