Aura Kyanite is based on natural kyanite, an aluminosilicate mineral known for its elongated crystals with a lamellar structure and well-defined longitudinal striations.

The iridescent look of the Aura variant is achieved through a surface treatment, by depositing a very fine layer of metal or metal oxides on the natural crystal. This process creates metallic reflections and iridescence that can vary between blue, purple, gold, green and pink, depending on the angle from which the piece is viewed and the light.

Under the Aura layer remains visible the characteristic structure of kyaniteOverlapping lamellae, irregular terminations, striations, and natural thickness differences. Each crystal thus has its own pattern, and the treatment accentuates the relief and surface particularities.

From a mineralogical point of view, kyanite has the composition Al₂SiO₅ and is known for an unusual characteristic: its hardness varies depending on the direction in which it is measured on the crystal, a phenomenon associated with its strongly anisotropic crystal structure.
