Kunzite is a pink-lilac variety of the mineral spodumene, with the chemical formula LiAl(SiO₃)₂, part of the pyroxene group. Its delicate color is given by the presence of manganese ions and can range from pale pink to translucent violet. It has a hardness of 6.5–7 on the Mohs scale and has a glassy luster, being sensitive to strong light, which can fade the shades over time. It is mainly found in pegmatites, in regions such as Afghanistan, Madagascar, Brazil, and the USA.
