Striped Agate is a variety of chalcedony recognized for its natural bands and layers that form distinct patterns inside the stone. The shades can range from white, cream, and gray to brown, reddish, or nearly black, depending on the mineral composition.
From a mineralogical point of view, agate is predominantly composed of silicon dioxide (SiO₂) and has a microcrystalline structure. The characteristic bands are formed by the successive deposition of chalcedony layers in rock cavities, the color variations being influenced by the impurities and minerals present during formation.
Polishing it in the form of a palmstone highlights the natural pattern of the bands and gives the stone a smooth, rounded surface that is pleasant to the touch.
