The morganite is the pink to peach-pink variety of beryl, the same mineral family that emerald and aquamarine belong to. Its delicate color is mainly determined by the presence of small amounts of manganese in the crystal structure.
From a mineralogical point of view, morganite is a beryllium aluminum silicate and crystallizes in the hexagonal system. Natural shades can range from very pale pink and peach pink to more intense tones, and the stone can be transparent, translucent or more opaque, depending on the quality and structure of the material.
The name of morganite it was assigned in 1911 in his honor J.P. Morgan, known collector and supporter of mineralogy.
