Zoisite is a mineral from the silicate group, appreciated for its color variety and natural combinations of colors and inclusions. It can appear in shades of green, gray-green, brown, pink, violet, or almost colorless,depending on the elements present in its structure.
From a mineralogical point of view, zoisite is a calcium and aluminum silicate,with the formula Ca₂Al₃(SiO₄)(Si₂O₇)O(OH). It forms mainly in metamorphic rocks and can appear as prismatic crystals or massive aggregates.
One of the best-known natural associations is green zoisite with ruby,where the red corundum crystals strongly contrast with the green matrix of the zoisite.
